I went out and shot some old Smoky Hill Museum equipment before it got moved to a railway musuem in Union Illinois. These are a donated Union Pacific Turbine and its accompanying tender and some snow clearing equipment. It was donated to Smoky Hill by Union Pacific and it had been sitting in an enclosed area. Some of the equipment had been stored at the old Richards Gebaur Air Force base and had been vandalized beyond hope, including some rare and historic equipment. Smoky hill had decided to trade this equipment for an operating Engine that the railway museum had. This equipment was parked here waiting for it's move to Illinios. It went to Illinois not long after this video was shot, but the operating engine never materialized. While I was there I got some other railfanning in by shooting a mixed manifest moving it's way through Dodson. |
